Hi, I'm Emily Sophie
I’m a professionally trained dancer (graduate of Doreen Bird College and Broadway Dance Center, NYC) choreographer and teacher, fitness professional (Advanced NASM Personal Trainer, Mat Pilates, Strala Yoga 200hr & ETM teacher) NLP practitioner and published author. I am the founder/choreographer of
Adelphi dance group and I also created the Dance Boss brand.
I’m absolutely passionate about dance and combining it with self love, personal development and a positive mindset to help people feel empowered, confident and fearless in the pursuit of finding and expressing their true selves. Which is why I created Dance Boss.
Dance Boss was created to be a positive space for ALL dancers to thrive. I wanted something that focused on a total mind/body wellness approach; so I created the Dance Boss e-zine (where there are 12 free issues to read) an exclusive Dance Boss Journal and Workbook, as well as professional and nurturing classes and events.
It is my hope that Dance Boss has everything you need to become the best version of you, both in life and in your dance pursuits. It's no secret that the dance world is often seen as an intimidating, tough place to be and it doesn't win any awards for being "Most nurturing" or "Best at encouraging self care"...in fact, the dance world focuses a lot on aesthetics and fitting a line up, which doesn't do wonders for people's self esteem, as you might imagine.
Hence the need for a shake up (enter Dance Boss stage right) to help you become a strong dancer in your mind, body and soul, so that you can pursue what you love most, whilst feeling healthy, happy and bursting with self confidence and belief.
So far, dance has taken me to many memorable places including Norway, Australia, Hong Kong and New York City; most notably, when I performed with Icona Pop live on Good Morning America in Times Square and with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the YouTube Brandcast event in New York City.
I also had the great opportunity to choreograph a new musical "Science! The Musical" which played in Cambridge, UK, as well as having performed and taught dance to thousands of people all across the world.
You can find out more about my journey with dance and mental health in my debut self help/memoir book
“Confessions of a dancer” which was published by That Guy's House in June 2019 and is
available online worldwide.
